Post Date:01/11/2018 3:42 p.m.

Would you like to know how Sedona’s City Hall works? Do you want to know how to have a voice in the future of the city of Sedona? These questions and others will be answered at the Citizens Academy, a program offered to educate and reach out to the community. Residents will have the opportunity to meet with the Sedona City Council and various department staff to better understand city operations and issues.

The Citizens Academy begins on Wednesday, March 21. It will run for eight weeks every Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 102 Roadrunner Dr.

“Citizens Academy is a great way to get a holistic view into how our city is run. You’ll learn about all types of topics, from the budget process to our parks and recreation programs, and everything in between,” says Lauren Browne, citizen engagement coordinator.

Citizens who complete the academy are encouraged to participate in the Citizen Engagement Program and/or apply for vacancies on city boards, commissions and committees.

This free program is open to Sedona residents 16 years of age and older. Those younger than 18 need a signed waiver by a parent or guardian to participate. Class size is limited to 20 participants and is on a first-come, first-served basis.

For more information or an application, contact Browne at 928-203-5068, email, or visit The deadline for applications is Thursday, Feb. 22.
