 Water Aerobics has moved indoors for the winter season.

  • aerobicsMorning classes Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays are AquaZumba.
  • Classes are held in indoor, heated pool.
  • $5 drop in fee or purchase a punch pass.  $40 for 10-visit pass, $80 for 20-visit pass.
    No expiration date on punch passes!

These low-impact, high energy classes are great for participants looking for a cardiovascular workout as well as those interested in getting to flex their muscles and move with ease while in the water. Instructors can show participants how to modify moves to meet most skill levels.  

Instructor Biographies

Instructor Jean-Marie

Jean-Marie Nixon lives with her loving husband Patrick in Sedona, AZ. She is a licensed ZUMBA instructor;  teaches Aqua ZUMBA® (yes, we do this in the water), as well as, ZUMBA Gold® for the active older adult, or people of all ages. She is a successful business woman; the CEO of “Turn the Other Cheek”.  Jean-Maire holds several degrees. Most recently, she received a master’s degree in psychology from California Coast University. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in educational psychology. She had a fulfilling, challenging, and rewarding career with Child Protective Services in the State of Delaware as well as working in the field of child and family case management, and have provided services for families in crisis in the State of Arizona, through the Verde Valley Guidance Clinic. Jean-Marie enjoys motorcycle riding with her husband, traveling, karaoke, and dancing, as well as, sewing, cooking, reading, and spending time with friends and family. She looks forward to offering Aqua ZUMBA to the people of Sedona.

instructorAchmed Valk was born and raised in Europe. He trained to become a professional dancer at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and the Theater School in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He graduated as a European licensed Physical Therapist from the Academy of Paramedical Professions at Amsterdam. Achmed came to the U.S. in 1980 as a professional in the performing arts (on stage, teaching , choreographing, and directing). He holds an MFA in Dance with an emphasis in Choreography and Video Composition from the University of California at Irvine. Achmed has resided in Sedona since 1997 and has worked as a professional teacher, fitness coach, specializing in the classic Pilates Method, director/choreographer, massage therapist (certified through the Arizona School of Integrative Studies), certified Human Design analyst, dream analyst and certified hypnotherapist, and intuitive counselor.
