Summary of position

This position supervises, plans, coordinates, assigns, and reviews the work of patrol staff or other department workgroup on an assigned shift, oversees and participates in all work activities including investigation, patrol and traffic duties, and performs a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Sergeant assignments include patrol, motors, hiring & recruiting, events, and training, if you are interested in certain assignments please indicate your interest in your cover letter.

 

Minimum qualifications

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training
College level course work or specialized training in law enforcement, criminal justice, police science, public administration, or a related field. An Associates or Bachelor’s degree is highly desirable.

Experience
Three years as a certified peace officer or two years as a certified peace officer with at least one year of full-time supervision experience.

License or Certificate:
Possession of an Arizona driver's license within two months of hire.
Valid peace officer certification. AZ POST Preferred
Possession of, or ability to obtain
