Did You Know
Did you know that in 2014, Sedona became just the eighth location in the world to be named an International Dark Sky Community by the Tucson-based International Dark-Sky Association (IDA)?
On June 24, 2014, City Council approved the City of Sedona International Dark Sky Community Policy and Lightscape Management Plan for maintaining dark-sky designation by the IDA.
We value Sedona’s dark skies, and because of the designation, the Sedona Land Development Code addresses dark-sky standards for exterior lighting. This is why outdoor lighting at your home, at businesses and on streets needs to be compliant. If you ever want more information on compliant lighting, you can visit the Community Development Department at City Hall in person or by calling 928-282-1154.
