Here’s a recap of recent City Council meetings and some decisions you might want to know about:
- On June 14, 2022, City Council heard an update on emergency management planning efforts and decided to move forward with a city-wide evacuation modeling pilot project instead of just the Uptown and Brewer Road areas as previously discussed. Modeling results are expected Spring 2023.
- On June 14, 2022, City Council approved a contract with KEAR Civil Corporation for the purchase of pumps at the three major lift stations in the City’s wastewater system. The construction contract is expected to be brought to City Council in August.
- On June 28, 2022, City Council heard an update on the Community Plan’s outreach plan and timeline, the resident survey results and progress made by the Community Plan Work Group.
- On June 15 and June 29, 2022 City Council discussed the Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau’s program of work and budget for Fiscal Year 2023. They voted unanimously to approve a work plan and base budget of $1,586,211 and voted by majority to approve an additional $84,000 in supplemental programs and services. Note: no money was approved for destination advertising. City Council will also consider structural changes to the current contract with the Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau, at an upcoming meeting likely in August or September.

Did You Know?
Did you know that as of the end of May, 14.3% of the city’s housing stock is short-term rentals? While the City has little authority to regulate short-term rentals, we want to remind residents to use the 24/7 hotline to make complaints on short-term rentals in your neighborhood so we can keep reaching out to owners to get issues resolved and record real data on short term rental impacts on our community. Call the hotline at 928-203-5110 or go to www.sedonaaz.gov/str.
