City Council Recap
Below are the highlights of July City Council meetings and some decisions that may interest you:
- On July 9, 2024, City Council approved the professional services contract with Dig Studio, Inc. for the implementation of the Master Plan process, culminating in a final Master Plan for the Western Gateway property in an amount not-to-exceed $254,242. This 12-month project will begin in early August with public meetings expected in the fall.
- On July 9, 2024, City Council awarded the construction contract to HT4 for the Dry Creek Road Realignment Project at the Lizard Head trail curve in an amount not-to-exceed $397,114. Work began on July 29 with construction anticipated Monday through Thursday, from 6:00 am – 5:30 pm. One lane of traffic will be open, with a temporary traffic signal in place. Work will be completed by the end of 2024 with additional shared-use pathway work to follow.
- On July 9, 2024, City Council recommended that a pending development contract agreement for 54 new apartment units (27 affordable units) at 60 Goodrow Lane be reviewed by the Community Development Department and the Planning and Zoning Commission for design and zoning recommendations, with the understanding that exceptions to height and setback requirements will be requested.
- On July 10, 2024, City Council heard a quarterly update on Sedona in Motion (SIM) projects including results of the traffic control testing conducted on Independence Day weekend. During the testing, traffic control operations were in place to evaluate the effectiveness of recently completed SIM projects including the Pedestrian Crossing at Oak Creek, as well as to gain data for future projects.

Did You Know
… that Construction for eight new Pickleball Courts at Posse Grounds Park is underway? The new Pickleball Courts will be located on the west corner of Posse Grounds Park, just west of the intersection of Posse Grounds Road and Carruth Drive. The courts will be equipped with dark sky compliant lighting, parking, bleachers, a shared use pathway, and a shaded courtyard. The nearby mature shade trees will be protected in place and half of the existing grass lawn from the former upper ball field will remain. The courts should be completed in October 2024!
