City Council recap

  • On Feb. 11, 2025, City Council approved the sale of 401 Jordan Road to the Sedona Fire District in the appraised amount of $2,230,000. This property will be the location for the new Fire Station #4.
  • On Feb. 11, 2025, City Council approved the authorization for staff to prepare an amended application and Scope of Work to the Arizona Department of Housing (ADOH), to reallocate grant funding of $875,683 to Catholic Charities of Sedona to operate and manage the Rental Assistance Program for two years. Council will review the revised application and eligibility requirements on April 8 prior to submitting to ADOH. If approved by ADOH, this new program will provide move-in assistance, rental assistance, case management and social services for those in Sedona experiencing homelessness. Case managers will work with people who are served to provide resources and referrals, and to discuss skills like budgeting, household maintenance or neighbor relations, with the goal of housing stability. The program will utilize a step-down approach regarding financial assistance. Generally, the process will occur over a six-to nine-month period in which households will be able to assume responsibility for their rents.
  • On Feb. 12, 2025, City Council gave input on the fiscal year 2026 Council Priorities, which include projects and initiatives within the Sedona Community Plan's goals of circulation, environment and sustainability, economy and tourism, community, land use, livability and good governance. The priority list will be published in the budget materials to be reviewed at the 2-day fiscal year 2026 Budget Retreat on April 30 and May 1, 2025.
  • On Feb. 25, 2025, City Council approved a property purchase agreement, with the Arizona Department of Transportation, for the purchase of a parcel located at 676 SR 179 adjacent to Oak Creek, in the amount of $998,602.50. Council determined it will be used for preservation of the Oak Creek area, with the possibility of using it for a creek walk in the future.
  • On Feb. 26, 2025, City Council heard a quarterly update on Sedona in Motion (SIM) projects. Highlights included the future traffic congestion reduction projects at the “Y,” which can be viewed in this video, and an overview of the data dashboard, parking initiatives, and other projects.
