Sedona hires new Communications and Public Affairs Manager

SEDONA, Ariz. – After a nationwide search, the city of Sedona selected Tyler Maffitt as its new Communications and Public Affairs Manager.

Maffitt comes with several years of private and public experience in all aspects of communications and public affairs. He has worked for the past four years as the Communications Manager in Eagle Mountain City, Utah where he built digital engagement platforms to increase transparency and trust in the community. Also in that role, he managed a website rebuild and digital strategy and directed media relations, press releases and communications for the city. Prior to working in government, he worked in private news beginning in 2010, both in newspapers and broadcast radio/television, focusing on reporting that covered diverse topics including public affairs and government.

Maffitt is a member of City-County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA) and has won several awards from this organization for branding, educational content and print publications for his work in Eagle Mountain City.

“It is exciting to have someone with such energy and passion for bringing information to the community while having such a wide set of experiences on so many different communication platforms,” said City Manager Anette Spickard.

“Sedona means a great deal to me, and I’m honored to step into this role. I’m excited to integrate into the city of Sedona and look forward to working with the community very soon,” said Maffitt.

Maffitt will begin his role on December 22, 2025.
