City welcomes resident participation in city council compensation discussions

SEDONA, Ariz. - The city of Sedona encourages residents to apply for the City Council Compensation Review Work Group (CCC) to advise City Council on a decision about a monthly salary starting after the Primary Election of 2026. 

The purpose of the CCC is threefold:

  • Review and recommend compensation (salary, benefits, expense allowances) for the Mayor and City Council members.
  • Ensure compensation aligns with city size, regional benchmarks, legal requirements and workload expectations.
  • Enhance transparency and fairness in compensation-setting.

The group of six resident volunteers, not employed by the city of Sedona, will be appointed by City Council will be Chaired by Councilor Pete Furman. The CCC will begin meeting in March 2026 and will end by Dec. 31, 2026, or once a recommendation is provided to the City Council.

Work group composition and time commitment

Meetings are expected to begin in March 2026 and will be held primarily on weekdays at City Hall, located at 102 Roadrunner Dr. The group is anticipated to meet monthly culminating in a recommendation to the City Council for their consideration prior to Nov. 1, 2026.

How to apply

City of Sedona residents who are interested in serving on the City Council Compensation Review Work Group must apply by 5 p.m. on Feb. 16, 2026. Interested applicants should apply at www.sedonaaz.gov/citizenengagement; tap on “Volunteer Registry,” fill out the form and check the “City Clerk” interest box.
