City Council Recap
Below are the highlights of the January City Council meetings and some decisions that may interest you:
- On Jan. 13, 2026, City Council approved the creation of a pool of pre-qualified contractors to help with ongoing street maintenance and repair projects. This would include regularly scheduled pavement preservation, road rehabilitation and other right-of-way maintenance, with an anticipated FY26 budget of up to $1.29 million.
- On Jan. 13, 2026, City Council approved a contract amendment between the Sedona Police Department and Zetron, Inc. to upgrade the City’s radio system in partnership with the Sedona Fire District. This amendment includes a third radio channel with additional coverage area. These upgrades are designed to improve radio coverage and reliability for emergency responders across Sedona and nearby response corridors.
- On Jan. 14, 2026, City Council held a work session on Capital Improvement Program (CIP) priorities for fiscal year 2027.The CIP is a long-range planning and budgeting tool used to identify and schedule major investments in infrastructure such as public safety, transportation, facilities, utilities and community amenities.
- On Jan. 27, 2026, City Council approved staff applying for the FY26 Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation, which includes a $2.3 million grant for the construction of the Coffee Pot Rd. shared-use path (SUP) and a $3.6 million grant for the construction of Brewer/Ranger Rd. roundabout.
- On Jan. 27, 2026, City Council heard an update on Uptown parking management strategies. Council supported 1) data governance policy and principals, 2) readiness-first approach in Uptown Residential Parking Permit Program, 3) fee structure policy framework, and 4) phased implementation. Staff will provide regular updates from the Parking Work Group as focus topics are completed and will provide more information regarding the work group meetings on the city website.
- On Jan. 28, 2026, City Council interviewed the following applicants for an assignment and appointment on the Tourism Advisory Board: Tracy Randall, Julie Richard, Brett Labit, Lars Romig and Gregory Stein. Council appointed Julie Richard, Brett Labit to a four-year term and Lars Romig and Gregory Stein to a two-year term on the Tourism Advisory Board.
