FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Coconino County Emergency Management (CCEM) will conduct a countywide test of the Emergency Notification System as part of ongoing disaster preparedness operations on Monday, March 30 at noon.
The purpose of the test is to ensure that the systems continue to be an effective means of warning the public about emergencies. All messaging received by the public during this test will clearly state that the message is a TEST and that no action is needed.
CCEM plans to deliver the test messaging to wireless devices and email addresses registered in the system. Prior to the test, all residents are encouraged to sign up for a free Smart911 account. If they already have a Smart911 account, individuals are asked to review their account information for accuracy. In the event of inclement weather anywhere in the County, the test will be rescheduled.
“This test is part of Coconino County’s continuing efforts to remain prepared for incidents they may impact our communities. Emergency notifications are a critical way we can quickly deliver life safety information,” Tim Carter, Coconino County Emergency Management Director said.
To register for a free Smart911 account, or to obtain more information, residents should visit coconino.az.gov/ready. If residents have additional questions, they can contact Coconino County Emergency Management at (928) 679-8311, or by email at emergencymanagement@coconino.az.gov.
