Highlights: Containment increases to 76% on the Pocket Fire.
Operations: Today, firefighting personnel will continue to patrol and reinforce containment lines. Prepping and chipping of fuels will greatly reduce fire intensity should it reach those pre-treated areas. Firefighters continue patrolling fire line, mopping up and improving where needed. As containment improves, some resources are shifting to suppression repair and equipment cleanup.
The West Fork of Oak Creek Canyon continues to hold heat within existing retardant lines. Aerial resources continue to operate in the area. When conditions allow, some aerial resources will assist with equipment removal. Crews continue chipping along the 89A corridor through proposed fuel breaks west of the highway, as well as being available for initial attack.
Hand lines are holding as crews continue to advance above the Seven Canyons area and those lines will be reinforced with the same fuel treatments. Hot spots in Long Canyon are being monitored, mostly by air resources.
Evacuations and Closures: The Yavapai County Sheriff (928-771-3260) has put the zone containing Seven Canyons and Enchantment into SET status. The map is available at

shorturl.at/fCDMc. State Route 89A is closed to all traffic except for residents between Flagstaff (MP 398) and Sedona (MP 375). Residents of Oak Creek Canyon need to enter the canyon from the south. Weather: Southwest winds of 5-10 mph will contribute to high temperatures and low humidities over the fire area. Wind gusts will approach 16 mph across the region today. Higher elevations will experience temperatures near 90 while temperatures at lower elevations will be near100.
