8th Annual Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collection Event

This FREE event is for city of Sedona residents and residents located in unincorporated Yavapai County areas. County areas may include, Ash Fork, Black Canyon City, Congress, Cordes Lakes, Cornville, Crown King, Kirkland, Lake Montezuma, Mayer, Rimrock, Skull Valley, Spring Valley, Verde Village, Village of Oak Creek, Williamson, or any county area that is not incorporated with a nearby town/city.

At this event, residents will drive through and drop off household hazardous waste, electronics, paper documents, and/or medical waste for proper disposal. Carefully read the list of acceptable and not acceptable items below.

What waste is accepted?

Hazardous waste

Adhesives
Aerosol paints and spray products
Antifreeze
Batteries including AAA, AA, C, D, 9-volt, rechargeable, and button batteries (no lead acid or vehicle batteries)
Gasoline
Household cleaners
Kerosene
Light bulbs (any bulbs, tubes, ballasts, fluorescents, etc.)
Oil-based paints
Pesticides
Pool chemicals
Solvents
Stains
Standard grill and camping propane tanks
Thinners

Electronics
Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) TVs or Monitors (A maximum number of 20 CRTs will be accepted. First come first serve)
CDs/DVDs
Credit card machines
Desktop and laptop computers
Fax machines
Flatscreen computer monitors
Flatscreen TVs
Floppy drives and hard drives (External hard drives, flash drives)
Microwaves
Other computer equipment (Docking stations, keyboards, mice, metal computer racks, modems, routers, servers, switches, access points for WIFI)
Other small electronics (Power AC adapters, calculators, cameras, remote controls, tablets, two-way radios)
Other small household appliances (Blenders, coffeemakers, hairdryers)
Phones (Cell phones, office phones, conference phones)
Power cables and cords (Extension cords, power strips)
Power tools (batteries may stay attached)
Printers and scanners
Radios
Security cameras
Vacuums
VHS/DVDs and players
Video game equipment
Wires

Paper documents for shredding (a limit of 4 boxes per vehicle)
Only paper will be accepted - no cardboard, card stock, credit cards, etc.
Okay to include paper clips, binder clips, staples, rubber bands, and hanging file folders

Medical Waste
Expired vitamins
Over the Counter medications
Prescriptions
Sharps

No controlled substances

What waste is not accepted?

No Ammunition and fireworks
No Bulky items such as furniture, appliances, etc.
No Car or other vehicle batteries
No Commercial business waste
No Compressed gas cylinders other than propane such as oxygen
No Explosives
No Latex and acrylic paints
No Motor oil
No Radioactive materials including smoke detectors
No Refrigerators, or any other items containing freon
No Tires

Or any other items or hazardous waste not listed in the acceptable items list.

Here are ways you can dispose of some of the items not accepted at this event:

Add kitty litter or sawdust to latex paint to dry it out and dispose with regular trash. The paint can may be recycled if the dried paint is removed from the can.
Vehicle batteries and motor oil can be returned to garages or auto supply stores.

What if I live in Coconino County?

In addition to participating in Sedona events, Sedona residents in Coconino County may drop off items year-round at the Flagstaff Hazardous Products Center.
