The City of Sedona Parks & Recreation Department has partnered with The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), a global leader in online training and certification programs, to become certified as a Certified Autism Center (CAC). It is our goal to provide every family with an enjoyable and memorable experience while in our facilities or programs, and we are proud to offer specialized services to individuals with autism and other special needs.

IBCCES Sensory Guide TM

The IBCCES Sensory Guide provides insight on how a child with sensory processing issues may be affected by each sense for attractions managed by our department. IBCCES performed an audit on Posse Grounds Park including the playground, pool, fitness trail, Hub, and Pavillion. Also, on the new Ranger Station Park and Sunset Park.

Sensory Guides are a new addition to our Parks to help you understand what high and low stimulations are present. Each guide rates touch, taste, sound, sight and smell from 1-10 with 1 being on the low end and 10 being on the high end. For example, on the guide below for Posse Grounds Park, under each stimulation is its rating then a list of participant guidelines. We have sensory guides available for our multiple parks and activities to help you decide what is the best fit! Click on each option below to see the sensory guide available for that area of the park and/or activity.
