Introducing Youth LAX!

We're excited to partner with Northern Arizona Youth Lacrosse to bring the fast-paced, exciting sport of lacrosse to our community!

Whether your child is brand new to the game or looking to build on existing skills, this program provides a fun, supportive environment where players can develop fundamentals, teamwork, confidence, and sportsmanship. Experienced coaches focus on teaching the game while ensuring every participant has a positive and rewarding experience.

Youth lacrosse is open to players of all skill levels, making it a great opportunity to learn a new sport, stay active, and make new friends. We look forward to seeing your athlete on the field!

Back-to-School Youth LAX Season 2026

The Verde Valley Vortex Early Fall Lacrosse Season is a developmental, beginner-friendly program for boys and girls in grades K–12.

This inaugural season is designed to introduce local kids to lacrosse in a positive, recreational environment focused on fundamental skills, teamwork, confidence, movement, and fun. No previous lacrosse experience is needed.

The program will begin as one co-ed, mixed-age team. During practices, players will be divided into smaller age-, size-, and skill-appropriate groups whenever registration numbers allow. Our goal is to grow the Verde Valley Vortex into separate age and gender divisions as more local families discover the sport.

Practice Schedule

Dates: August 11–September 29, 2026

Day: Once per week, every Tuesday

Time: 4:00–5:30 p.m.

Location: Posse Grounds Park in Sedona

Field: The grass field next to the pickleball courts

Registration includes all eight scheduled Tuesday practices.

What Players Will Learn

Practices will introduce and develop skills including:

• Cradling and controlling the ball

• Throwing and catching

• Scooping ground balls

• Dodging and movement

• Shooting

• Teamwork and game concepts

• Sportsmanship and how to “Honor the Game”

  
  

Equipment and What to Bring

NAYL will provide the lacrosse equipment players need to participate.

Each player should bring:

• A properly fitted mouthguard

• Athletic clothes

• Athletic shoes or cleats

• A full water bottle

Players are welcome to use their own lacrosse equipment if they already have it. Additional equipment information and loan details will be shared with registered families.

This will be a non-contact, co-ed, developmental season. There will be no body checking or intentional player-to-player contact. Practices will use age-appropriate stations, games, drills, and small-sided play to keep every player active and involved.

Registration Cost

NAYL season registration: $40

Annual USA Lacrosse membership: $35 (This will cover you for a whole year and you will not need to pay this fee again for the spring 2027 season)

Total required cost: $75

The $35 annual USA Lacrosse membership is purchased separately and is not included in this ticket price. Every player must have an active USA Lacrosse membership to participate. You can purchase an annual membership here: https://www.usalacrosse.com/membership
