Public Works Mission
The Public Works Department works to provide safe, reliable, and easy-to-use public spaces and services for everyone in our community. We focus on building and maintaining streets, facilities, and systems that people depend on every day.
Our goal is to deliver high-quality work in a cost-effective way. We plan carefully, use resources wisely, and look for practical solutions that meet community needs. We are committed to creating a safe and enjoyable experience for residents, visitors, and local businesses through dependable infrastructure and services.
What we do
- Manage and maintain city streets and facilities for the benefit of Sedona residents and visitors.
- Ensure the safety, sound operation and protection of city assets through right-of-way maintenance and traffic improvements, safety and quality inspections, drainage improvements, conducting reviews and issuing permits, and supporting emergency preparedness and response.
- Plan and build new facilities for the use and enjoyment of residents including capital improvement projects such as flood control structures, parks and wastewater facilities, and accessibility improvements.
- Protect the environment by ensuring protection of the Oak Creek watershed, monitoring compliance with state and federal regulations and educating the public.
