The importance of resident input
Every year, the city evaluates what projects will be included in future year budgets by weighing needs, funding levels and other competing priorities. New to the Fiscal Year 2021 budget process, the city conducted a survey seeking input from the community on projects city staff has heard should be implemented.
How input is used
City staff took the input received from this survey and used it during the budget preparation process so that staff, the City Manager and City Council can make more informed decisions.
Between when the city administered the survey and City Council began discussing the budget, the COVID-19 pandemic occurred, placing many of the large budget projects in flux because of a loss of tax revenue. Regardless, the results of the survey are still useful for future planning purposes when tax revenues return.
